This is not an organization, but more disorganization. I enrolled my wife for spring classes and they gave us no information how to sign up in their website, no orientation nor direction how to start from one point to next. It's been a 4th time I took my wife to the classes and no teacher is available to give permission for a classes. Most teachers are rude, unprofessional and they're late every day. I don't recommend anyone here if you really need to learn the language.
Clean campus. I took classes a decade-plus ago, look completely different. There are areas of the lawn that brings back memories.
Great/cheaper place to exercise at the gym through the community center or school, complete general ed & transfer to a 4yr, or learn a skill. Smaller classes for more one on one learning. Friendly students & staff. After graduating & graduating from CSUN, I still come back for the community center gym class & easy-going school atmosphere.
The staff at the welcome center are very unprofessional. I was waiting there for very long time and they didn’t even bother to ask if I needed help or anything ☹️😕 …
I love LAVC!! it is one of the best colleges that I have been to and I have attended two colleges and worked for two.
The Welcome Center is very welcoming from each and every staff even down to their student workers! Gabriel Hernandez runs that Center very well and knows customer service. I love all my in-person classes because the students are all great I haven't run into not one negative situation with not one person everyone seems happy it's just a place to be. As far as education the education is great all the professors I've had so far and this is my second year have been outstanding and very knowledgeable. I changed my major from Real Estate to broadcast and the counselors all helped. Most important let's talk about the most important Department financial aid the money every single person I have come into contact with in financial aid has extended and went above and beyond to help me and trust me I'm always jumping on a chat to speak with them and follow up on my Aid they never seem irritated and they're always happy to assist overall I look forward to continuing my education at LAVC and I hope you do as well.
The new buildings look terrible and the staff has really downgraded. Once upon a time the office staff were knowledgeable and polite. This was a very nice campus back in the early 2000s, unfortunately just like everything else it has downgraded.
Find the right professors and make the best out of your experience 🎓.
I would not hold high hopes for Counseling or other Office services, and while some Professors care not, there are some hidden jams that may make it worth it. If you just want to “pass”, there are Professors for that too.
I would suggest to apply for FAFSA and their Foundation, because this may make it easier on you wallet. It’s fairly not complicated.
There are a lot of services one may find useful while at the college, but no one talks about them. You really have to do your campus research ☹️.
As for the campus: some buildings are new, some old, but overall the atmosphere is clean and safe, one may enjoy a lunch at the cafe or under the trees on a bench. Sometimes you can see a coyote 😆.
So far, so good. SO good. Really lovely campus; nice & quiet surroundings. I once read that a nearby church or college increases the value of the homes in the area. Well, the folks of Valley Glen must be millionaires.
Valley College is one of life's hidden gems. The people I've met are so happy I feel like I'm in Berkeley in the '60's.
More to come as I continue my education.
Very clean, green and beautiful. The college has a very good vibe - I feel like I'm on vacation every time I visit. Easy to find all necessary buildings on campus. It's not too big where it takes forever to walk from one end of the college to the other. It's big enough where you have a multitude of choices between teachers and classes.
Worst community College ever. Very unhelpful, majority of office staff are old so I don't really think they know what they're doing besides the repeated lines they've rehearsed "have you checked online?" Like man, why do you think I'm here in person in the first place.
When transferring to another college, they will give you a hard time not processing your transcripts to the college unless you buy them yourself regardless if the college you're transferring to is already making the request to them on your behalf. I'm already behind enrolling in classes for the new college I'm transferring to thanks to Valley College. Wish I never enrolled here in the first place. Such a waste of time.
